Here are some of the resto we visited during the Chinese New Year holidays.
There are a lot of good food here, and sometimes, it’s a bit hard to choose!
I guess now I know why I gained almost 2kgs in span of less than 30 days.
Melchor also gained a lot of weight! Some people here are saying that he looked big after the CNY! hahaha!
Melchor and I are not that picky with food. And with my sudden cravings, I’m thankful that Melchor can keep up with my preferences.
Since I lost my cellphone last 13 February, we opted to go to Xujiahui area the next day.
Aside from looking for a new cellphone I can buy, I also need to buy some maternity clothes.
One of our favorite malls here in Shanghai is the Grand Gateway Mall.
If you’ve been to Xujiahui, you will be amazed with how busy and crowded that area, with a lot of malls actually.
And there’s a nearby computer/gadgets area (百脑汇）, and Best Buy (百思买) store.
I like Grand Gateway Mall, because there’s an extended area there at the 3rd or 4th floor (I think!) all for kids!!!
I do like the hiking pants I got from our Decathlon (sporting and outdoors shop) here, but to be honest, I can’t close the button na!
So I got 2 maternity pants and 1 maternity jeans from Oct Mami. I just tried couple of jeans, and with Melchor’s approval, they look good on me!
The prices are not cheap! But then, I can’t wear anything na! Melchor kept on reminding me that I needed them na.. so fine fine, I got 3 pcs.
Before shopping, since we had our breakfast at Puli Hotel and Spa, our lunch was around 12:30pm already.
We chose – South Memory Hunan Restaurant. It was located at 5th floor of the Grand Gateway Mall.
Here were the dishes we had at the said resto:
I think my mom will react wildly that I saw the red chilis in 2 of the main dish! hahaha! But I think the more that I was told not to eat spicy food, the more I crave for them! Also, Melchor had some tricks on his own, on how to lessen the spiciness of the food. We did that and enjoyed tremendously with our food! 🙂 I love the Fish head! It’s so savory!! Of course we removed all the chilis! hahaha! I just had 1 cup of rice, Melchor had 2! hahaha!
We shopped a little. Then, went to look for my next cellphone. But I’m still undecided what model and brand to get. I have to think and research more about this.
The next day, we need to go to the China Mobile office, to re-issue my China simcard, and had a very late Thai lunch at Citic Square along Nanjing Xi Lu. We had the following:
Melchor had 2 cups of rice, I only had 1. 🙂
My favorite Sichuan resto here is Hei San Niang （黑三娘). I think I can eat in this resto every week! hahaha
Oh, I forgot to blog, our friend, Marie visited Shanghai during the last week of January, and we ate at Lost Heaven Yunnan Folk Cuisine.
This is one of our favorite resto also.. (I have a very long list of favorite restaurants here! hahaha!)
Marie’s sporting long hair na!! It was great to see you here Marie! Balik ka ulit!
So that ends my post for the day.
Seeing all the food we had, makes me hungry now! hahaha!
Ok. I have to stop thinking about food, eating..
I need to start researching on what to buy for first time mom like me!
I’m not sure where to start!!!!!!!!!!
I’m already on my 25th week and 2 days.
I had my Glucose Challenge test last Friday – which according to the Nurse and my OB, I gained 2 kgs. from last 31 January to 26 February.
My OB told me based from her quick ultrasound test that my baby’s not so small anymore, and I need to start exercising!
I have to admit that I had a blast during our Chinese New Year holidays here.
Melchor and I spent our CNY and 2nd Valentine’s day celebration at The Puli Hotel and Spa – one of the newest 5-star hotels here in Shanghai! It was so luxurious!!! I love the room set-up!! It was very cozy and just relaxing!!!!
We got a room upgrade and love all the amenities!!
As much as I wanted to try the SPA, since I heard good reviews about Anantara Spa, my Mom forbade me to do any massage with my very preggy body! So, I rather follow her words and play it safe. I guess one of the good things Melchor and I appreciated with this hotel is that all of their drinks are free!!! Yes, everything in the mini bar can be consume without charge! Our package includes breakfast for 2 days and a dinner at their famous Jing An Restaurant.
Personally, I love this hotel compare to Pudong Shangri-la, Grand Hyatt, and Howard Johnson. Hahaha!
Another thing happened to me during this CNY break was that, I lost my Sony Ericsson cellphone! So to my family, friends that I needed to text to greet a happy Chinese new year, I’m sorry I was not able to text you guys! hahaha!
Back to my 24th week Glucose Challenge test, I was actually worried, because according to the instruction given by American Sino Ob-Gyn Center, if I failed this test, I will have to do the OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test). Here’s the Glucose that I took last Friday at 8:00AM:
Come Friday morning, I dissolved this bag of Glucose in 200ml water, and drank it at 8:00AM, arrived at American Sino at around 8:45AM. Had my monthly urine test, then, BP, and weight! Hahaha! My weight that day was around 65.18kgs already. The nurse told me, I gained 2 kgs. since the last time. So, I’ll be doing some exercise soon! I’ll probably attend the Yoga Class/ Prenatal Exercise offered by American Sino. (I love this Ob-Gyn Center!!!). My Ob, Dr. Kelly Jia advised me, based from Melchor’s built, there’s a chance that my baby will be big, and if I want to deliver the baby normally, I have to exercise – attend the Yoga Class, Prenatal Exercise, start walking and try swimming. Melchor and I will start walking soon! It’s still cold here eh!! Dr. Jia also said that it seems that my baby’s absorbing everything that I eat.
It’s been 3 days since my Glucose Challenge test. I dreaded receiving a call from American Sino, informing me my results. I was worried because of my PCOS, which tends to make me insulin resistant. So far, I haven’t receive any phone calls yet, which the nurse told me that they will not call if my results are normal! Phew!
As for my mood swings, I just I realized this 25th week, I’m getting irritated with small things. But don’t get me wrong, I don’t get irritated without valid reasons!!! Sometimes, people are loud and senseless, and with the small confinement of my office, it’s really irritating!! But hey, I’m pregnant, so maybe the little Tigress in my belly is sharing her temperament with me na! Hahaha! Melchor and I have to watch out then!! Hahaha!
Lastly, here’s my preggy belly at 24th week:
Our other feast during the CNY holidays will follow soon! 😉
Just doing a post and swatches for my current Chanel blushes.
My first Chanel blush was Orchid Rose. I fell in love with it, and used it for more than a week! (that’s something already!) Then, I got Reflex, Incognito, Neroli Rose, Tweed Pink, Tweed Corail, Soleil Tan de Chanel (bronzer).. Powders Rosee and Azalea.. got Rose Dust, In Love and Fantasia… then Narcisse, Rose Petale, Fresque, Tea Rose.. and today, got Candy and Fandango.
I think I should stop buying na.. but then, I can still be tempted with the others.. haha!
I used the Narcisse in the morning and In Love in the afternoon.
I felt pretty, with them.. it’s like NARS and Armani blushes.. You just feel confident in them.
Here are my Chanel blushes, bronzer and powders:
I noticed that this blog have several hits for search for Dr. Chiaoling Sua-Lao.
With this, I’m posting my OB-Gyn, who did my laparoscopy surgery last April 15, 2009.
She’s also the one who gave me my medication for the Polycystic Ovarian syndrome.
I’m now on my 5th month pregnancy. I may not have done all the work-ups with some other girls trying to conceive in Manila, but I believe that Dr. Sua-Lao did a very good job with regards to my dermoid cyst, and my medication for pcos.
Anyway, just in case you guys need to visit and contact her, here’s her calling card:
I first visited her in her The Medical City clinic.. but frequents both Binondo and TMC Clinic.
Any questions, I’ll be very happy to help out! 🙂 just let me know.. 😉
Last January 31, 2010, we visited our OB center for a detailed ultrasound check-up.
Melchor and I were a bit late, that’s why, I was kinda tensed that we’ll be arriving late at American Sino Ob Center.
Then, when we arrived, I was ushered to the Nurse Section, to get my blood pressure.
I got 148/98 at that time! But I believe this is due to me kinda catching my breathe, because we were late.
I was 63kgs. already.
It was also the day that we’ll know the gender of our baby.
But the Sonologist I think is more concerned about the details of the baby, rather than telling us what the gender is. So I was laying in the bed, with the ultrasound machine beside me.. monitor up front.. the Sonologist started checking, looking and explaining to me the details of our baby. One by one, she pointed out the spine, the heart, intestines, the legs, feet, the brain, nose, the lips.. and hands.
The baby seems to prefer having her hands in fist mode, I think the Sonologist wants to show the hands, to count the fingers, if they are complete, but the baby’s not cooperating! Hahaha! The baby is in the fighting mode.. fiesty huh!? 🙂
Melchor kept on asking, if the Sonologist will tell us if thebaby’s girl or boy.
I told him, wait.. I think the detailed ultrasound is more important.
In the end, the Sonologist told us it’s a girl… She did not show us proof that it was a girl.. but I guess she saw it already.
I have to admit that I was a bit expecting that I’ll be having a boy. I guess being PCOS, made me kinda wanting to have a baby boy liike Little Melchor, and will not worry if I will still be PCOS after the first baby. But of course, I’m now happier to know that my baby’s healthy. She’s started kicking last 18th week.. and right now, I can feel her movements more and more. Yesterday (February 4, ’10), after I stopped the baby music I was listening to during our break time, I felt she was punching and kicking me then.. I told Melchor that his baby’s moving! He placed his hands in my belly, and *bump*, Melchor said – "O nga noh! Gumagalaw sya!!" and then, a big warm smile.. 🙂
Yes, we’re having a baby Girl. Melchor and I have to think of a good strong name for her.
We’ll get into that soon.. hahaha!
Have to start my baby stuff shopping after Chinese new year! hahahaha! (I’m excited with this!! 😉 )
My Mom and sisters knew that I was wanting a baby boy… but to be honest, it’s not like we live in Baby boomers age anymore.
My family reminded me that having a baby girl for a first-born is actually better… Just like the position I have in my family.
Melchor reminded me that that baby’s inside me is already a miracle for us! We should be happy that we’ll be parents soon.
With this, I’m more determined to get through my being a PCOS.
For my baby, I’m sorry that Mommy thought the gender is more important than you being healthy, strong and normal.
We love you and can’t wait to see you in 19 weeks! hahaha!
This morning, I received emails informing me that I’m already on my 20th week, and I’m at the halfway mark! That info, instead of making me feel assured, it terrifies me more! Hahaha!
I have to admit, it’s not easy, but right now.. I’m feeling great!
Thanks to other mommies out there (especially in my facebook comments), for sharing that I will feel better soon. I didn’t experienced a traumatic 1st trimester, but the feeling was defintely different, and not pleasant. I was choosy with food, I ate certain stuff only. I hate oily food. Thank God that my husband’s really really REALLY patient with me! Hahaha! I had some vomiting episodes also, but it can be counted within my 2 hands.
I found comfort in the following food:
From top left to right: Green apple candy, Peanuts, Black Chicken soup, Lettuce salad with Japanese dressing and seaweeds, Perrier, 7-Up, Kiwi, Banana Muffin, KFC Chicken, Tempura, Soda Crackers, Preserved pickles, Green Tea biscuit, Spicy mushroom, Oreo cookie, Misua noodles, Tonic Water,
Now that I’m on my Second trimester, I feel hungry most of the time. And now whenever I’m full, I have a hard time feeling too full! hahaha! (will try to blog my Second trimester feast, though I sometimes forgot to take pictures na.. lazy me!)
Some of my pictures with the bulging belly! 🙂 I hope they won’t scare you guys off! hahaha!
the reddish spots were from my scratching because my tummy skin itches like crazy then!
at 18th week (the small thing in my navel was also from my laparoscopy operation)
at 19th week (wearing my garterized hiking pants low waist! haha!)
Will update soon! I bought some skin care products, AGAIN!!!
I’m about to have wrinkles!!! I really have to do my skin care regimen na!!!
That’s all for now! 😉
